Product Details

A lovely little Edwardian brooch of art glass and brass. Very pretty coral-colored pate de verre is set in an oval frame of dimpled and beaded brass. The colors and textures are dreamy. This pin is small and lightweight, perfect for wear on knits, lace, or other light fabrics. It secures with the c-clasp common to the era and bears an (as yet) unidentified crowned, crested shield mark on its back. Circa 1910.

The brass and glass jewelry of the early 20th century is wonderful. The high quality of the glass and the detailed metalwork has made it quite collectible. Pate de verre is a form of art glass created by crushing glass and applying it to a mold. This technique allows for the creation of intricate and unique color patterns. It was particularly useful in giving the glass the look of gemstones. Pate de verre was quite expensive and popular in very early 20th Century jewels.

Details.....This brooch measures 1" by 0.82". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
